City of Bentonville GPS Monument Network Update

Project Location: Bentonville, AR

ACEC/Arkansas Engineering Excellence Award Winner 2021

CEI was contracted by the City of Bentonville on September 11, 2018 to provide Professional Surveying Services in connection with the update of the GPS Monumentation Network. The City of Bentonville stated that a total of 48 stations remained and that they wanted to update the network and validate the existing network integrity. In addition, some of the monuments that remain
will be either destroyed by known future construction or the quality of the monument is such that it is not desirable to keep as a part of the primary network of City monuments. CEI worked with NOAA’s National Geodetic Survey (NGS) to establish four new Class B monuments and was successful in having them accepted through the Blue-Booking process to be entered as official NGS Survey Marks. In this work effort, 39 monuments were recovered and validated via GPS Static Survey technology and submitted to NGS as an OPUS Projects. This will allow the entire network to be updated upon datum changes in the future. The City of Bentonville GPS reference station was also added into the NGS CORS network for accuracy and reliability.
