CEI provided professional engineering services to evaluate and design erosion control and hydraulic improvements for the Loch Lomond Dam spillway in Bella Vista. The project included assessment of existing spillway conditions, which exhibited active erosion along the southern bank and channel floor, and extended approximately 550 feet downstream from the dam weir.
CEI performed a detailed topographic survey of the spillway corridor, including development of one-foot contours from a digital terrain model and identification of above-ground features and utilities.
Engineering services also included hydraulic evaluation of spillway flow rates and velocities, development of erosion control recommendations, and preparation of construction documents for channel improvements and dam spillway repairs. CEI coordinated design review with the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission and supported federal permitting considerations, including Nationwide Permit coordination with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for structural and bank stabilization activities.
CEI additionally provided construction administration services, including cost estimating, bid-phase support, contractor coordination, and record documentation. Stormwater compliance services were incorporated through preparation of an SWPPP where disturbance thresholds required coverage.
Relevance to CPRG Work: This project demonstrates CEI’s ability to deliver climate-resilient water infrastructure improvements through hydraulic evaluation, erosion mitigation, environmentally sensitive permitting, and compliant implementation support aligned with CPRG program goals.
