The Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art needed a major addition that would provide visitors with more outdoor options. The addition involved permanent and temporary sculptures and other exhibits, and event spaces for concerts, weddings and other gatherings. The project included design and construction of a third public entry, an elevator tower, a pedestrian access bridge, and a 100-acre outdoor “gallery” consisting of a 1.1-mile paved trail; water, sanitary sewer, data, and electric services; restrooms; and a food-court area that provides for display of temporary and permanent outdoor artworks, public concerts and events, and recreational enjoyment for museum visitors.
